About us:

Our love for the Akita breed began over 25 years ago. For Connie, it actually began in her early childhood due to the stories her Japanese mother told her of the loyal Akita, Hatchi.

Greg’s love for the breed began shortly after he and Connie were married when he purchased their first Akita, a 10 month old male named Turbo, from a pet store. Turbo lived to be nearly 14 years old.

When he passed away, another Akita joined the family, a 4 year old male named Kumo. He passed away at the age of 10, shortly after he was diagnosed with bone cancer.

Then Liric’s Karmic Reward “Brisco” joined us at the
age of 2. We learned a great deal about responsible breeding from his breeder, Lisa Coffey, and she has become a wonderful friend and mentor. Brisco’s half sister, GCH Liric’s Mind Over Matter, CGC, TT “Mattie” joined us and began our journey into the wonderful world of dog showing.

We are thrilled to have our very first Bred By Champion!  Annie earned her AKC Championship at the San Jacinto Kennel Club show at the age of 25 months!

Our kennel name, Tex-an, comes from our two heritages and a bit of a tribute to Connie’s late mother: “Tex” for Texas, and “an” for Japan.

We are proud members of the Akita Club of America, Heart of Texas Akita Club, and Lone Star Akita Club.
